After Israel suffered four cross border attacks by Hezbollah from Syria, they attacked back attacking a terrorist installation. The problem is that Syria is the current president of the UN security counsel that is supposed to safeguard international peace and security. Tith this being so, where can Israel turn for justice at the UN?
“Both Lebanon and Syria are acting in defiance of UN resolutions. In May, 2000, Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon in accordance with UN resolution 425 to a physical line that was recognized by the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the UN Security Council as a fulfillment of Israel’s obligations. Resolution 425 additionally called for the restoration of international security along the Israeli-Lebanese border, a condition which is continually being undermined by Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.” – Dore Gold (Senior adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon)
How can Israel complain in the Security Council when the perpetrators are in charge?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahmen Queria (Palestinian Prime Minister): “We have the right to struggle in all ways to achieve the rights of our people, to put an end to the occupation of our land.” This statement makes it clear that to him, all the Jews on all the land on which they live, are occupying the land that belongs to the Palestinians. So how can their be peace and live side by side? This is the first man that was supposed to be a moderate alternative to Arafat and one Israel was supposed to trust. As it is, nobody will negotiate with Arafat because he doesn’t want peace. If Queria goes his own way, he too will soon be an ex-Prime Minister as Abbas.
What happened to the Road Map requirements for peace that the Palestinians were supposed to meet?
1. First condition an end to terror attacks on Israel. 2. They are required to dismantle the terror infrastructure. But that won’t happen.
The one thing that no one in the UN and other nations are willing to consider in the equation of the problem of attack and counter attack is that if the Palestinians will stop their attacks, the Israel will stop their retaliation attacks. For a short period there was an effort by Israel and supposedly a negotiated cease fire by the Palestinian terror groups. Yet, while Israel did nothing, they kept having suicide bombers while claiming that they weren’t breaking their agreement to stop the attacks so their might be peace but made excuses that they attacks were for something precious to the cease-fire agreement that Israel had done to them. The only way to stop the attacks is to dismantle the terror groups.
We say we will not negotiate with terrorists, yet there is nowhere for the peace plan to go when Arafat is still in control and still keeping these organizations in power. The fact is, as long as Arafat is in the region and in control, he will not let any other leader develop, have any power over the security forces or stop the terror attacks. He created some of these organizations to begin with and supports them all financially.
Arafat hamstrung Abbas so that he had no power and could do nothing. Arafat will not allow Qureia or the peace process to make progress. He is responsible for the fall of Abu Mazen’s government.
Yet we keep trying to do business and force Israel to do business and to stick their neck out in front of the Palestinians.
