DNC Says It Will 'Fight' Pro-Life Supreme Court Nominees
November 19, 2004WASHINGTON -- Just one day after pro-abortion political action group NARAL announced a new "strategy" for obstructing President George W. Bush's conservative judicial choices, the Democratic National Committee told its supporters on Thursday that they will continue to "fight" against Supreme Court nominees who are pro-life.
In an e-mail to its members, the DNC said they are looking forward to the "biggest nominations" for President George W. Bush soon.
"We have every reason to expect that very soon, George W. Bush will have the opportunity to appoint at least one, and possibly three, Supreme Court justices (including the chief justice), decisions that will affect every aspect of our lives for decades to come," the DNC contended.
The DNC states this battle over Supreme Court justices "encompasses the values we stand for and fought so hard for during the Election."
"The Democratic Party will not stand by and let President Bush use the Supreme Court to placate the most extreme members of his party," the DNC opined. "We will fight for a nominee who will protect the rights and values we hold dear, and you will be a crucial part of that fight."
Without revealing any details yet, the DNC said they will write another e-mail to supporters sometime next week to share with them "how you can get involved early in our fight to protect the Supreme Court."
This coincides directly with NARAL's four-pronged strategy announced on Wednesday for continuing the judicial obstruction in the U.S. Senate, including educating the public regarding the pro-abortion position, mobilizing pro-abortion supporters, developing ads to promote the pro-abortion agenda, and lobbying members of the U.S. Senate to support their pro-abortion views.
